![]() | ![]() | Hailing from Boston, Mass. Miss Fortune is an amazing rock band. They are composed of 4 handsome younger (like mid 20's) men: Ryan Link (lead vocals), Jay Barclay (guitar and vocals), Chris Hobbick (drums), and Andreas (bass guitar) {Andreas is new to the band so I'll get more on his name at a later time promise} I first met/ heard these guys at the MMC '01 (February 17, 2001). They had an amazing sound and totally blew me away. Mom didn't want to leave and go back to the room to get money so we didn't buy their cd (we got it via the internet later in time). I briefly spoke wiht Ryan, and after that it was back to the whole hanging out at MMC '01 thing. So after the night I had, and Ryan saying to stop by their room (which I never got there), we were headed to check out of the hotel the next morning. Ryan came down, as we sat in the lobby. He said hello and I was suprised that he had even remembered me. I wouldn't see him again until April 27, 2001. After months of e-mailing between Ryan and I, they came back and played in Harrisburg, at Gullifty's. I arrived at Gullifty's at around 7:40, so Shannon and Melanie could do their thing, and I just tagged along. We sat and waited hopping Miss Fortune would come out sometime soon. We waited 'til almost 9:40 when the other band had already set up their equipment, and I was fully prepared to leave (since I had only gone to see Miss Fortune). Suddenly out of nowhere appears Jay, and my heart jumped. They hadn't stood us up. They set up, and Ryan took forever just to see me. He was like "Hey, did you get in okay?" I said yes, as he went off to set up and apoligze for being that late. Finally he came over and leaned down (beside the table) for a while as Chris did his drum thing. He said they hit traffic in Conneticut, New Jersey and then on 81 (it's a terribly bad highway to drive in PA). And then they had to stop. I felt so bad. We talked awhile longer and then Jay came over. Jay and Ryan and Shannon and I talked for awhile longer, and then Ryan and Jay had to play. I was so ready for them to play. They began to play at 10:30, and Mom, Gwen and I all got up and went to the "edge of the dance floor". We took pictures and "bopped" since no one else would. Ryan was so glad we were up dancing that he'd keep looking at us as he sang, and when he saw the camera go up he'd smile for me. It was so much fun watching them perform and then just hanging out for a little after the show, and Chris told of his "one man rodeo". Check out Miss Fortunes website to learn the history of the band, and to check out some of their songs: | ![]() | ![]() |
